Delhi University (DU) looks for alternatives in admission process. The same is being considered for candidates applying sports science, music, physical education.
The university has asked the candidates applying for admission in music courses to upload their performances on YouTube. Additionally, this would be a part of their practical entrance test. Furthermore, this decision was taken keeping in mind the pandemic. Moreover, shortlisted candidates will be undergoing an interview. The candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in their videos.
This is a temporary shift by the university. It is applicable for music, sports science and physical education courses. Further, the same is for extra-cirricular activities (ECA) quota.
The university announced the details after a detailed discussion. The admission process will be held online. The same was suggested by sub-committee. Further, it is adopted for academic year 2020-21.
Arun Kumar Attee informed that it is not possible to call students to give their trials and auditions. He is a standing committee member. He further said that the university has decided to skip the trials this year. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the trials have been called off.
Moreover, entrance exams would be conducted online. The same will be held for music courses. The faculty of music and fine arts will conduct these exams. Admission to physical education courses will be done totally on basis of merit certificates.
The interviews of shortlisted candidates will be conducted online too. It will be held for UG and PG candidates for courses of music faculty. It must be noted that university provides three music courses at UG and PG levels.
Furthermore, DU has also decided to let go of fitness test. Decision has been made for admissions into BSc and MSc courses in Bachelor of Physical Education, Physical Education and Health Education and Sports.
