The foundation stone of Sri Aurobindo College was laid in 1972 by Delhi University. Named
after one of the popular faces of the Indian freedom struggle, Sri Aurobindo, an Indian
nationalist, philosopher, Guru and poet, the year 1972 was specifically chosen to set up the
institution as it marked the birth centenary of the great patriot. The very existence of the
college stands as a fitting tribute to the memory of its namesake and continues to serve the
cause of the youth of our country by inculcating and promoting ideals and vision of its inspiring
figure.
Located in the heart of South Delhi in Malviya Nagar, Sri Aurobindo offers various programmes
across all disciplines, ranging from arts, commerce to Sciences. It houses some well-equipped
laboratories and a spacious library, which provides access to multiple reputed national and
international journals. Not only its boasts of having a quality academic atmosphere and faculty,
the college has maintained a lead in offering and promoting extracurricular activities
throughout its history. A special cultural committee in the college is responsible for creating a
pool of talented students and providing them a launch pad to enhance their talents. Similarly,
there exists a vibrant debate and literary society to augment the skills of the students.
The success of such educational and extracurricular infrastructure can be gauged from the fact
that Bollywood’s prominent face, Neeraj Pandey, director of critically acclaimed movie A
Wednesday ,hails from Sri Aurobindo College. The College has a dedicated team of NCC cadets
and sends its trainess to participate in several national competitions on regular basis. To cap it
off, One gets to experience life in its multiple colours at Sri Aurobindo.
