Internet of Things and its Benefits in Industries

The Internet of Things facilitates communication between devices and the cloud, allowing easy communication between interconnected devices using sensors. Home appliances, fitness devices, and automobiles can also be operated using the Internet of Things. The data that are collected from diverse devices are shared to make the task easier. Moreover, it reduces the time and limits human intervention.

Additionally, the sensors are used to identify environmental conditions like climate, light, humanity, and sound. Devices can be interconnected utilizing wifi or Bluetooth. Besides, it has many applications like tracking the number of customers, automating repetitive tasks at home and so on.

The term IoT was first introduced by Kevin, who is a computer scientist. Radio Frequency Identification technology introduced a way to connect physical devices wirelessly. Scientists who worked on IoT lifted it to the advanced level that includes cloud computing, edge computing, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.

IoT in Agriculture:

IoT has been useful in tracking the conditions of crops, and surrounding weather and checking the soil moisture using sensors like weather stations, soil moisture sensors and so on. The data that is collected using sensors are used to manage water, fertilisers and pesticides. Moreover, IoT can also be used in detecting diseases in the initial stage thereby improving plant health effectively. This can be attained by using RFID tags which a sensors used to monitor the plant’s health.

Additionally, Iot Technology supports repetitive tasks like watering the plants, harvesting, irrigation and planting. Smart agriculture fosters water usage based on soil moisture and other factors.

IoT for home usage:

Smart homes include smart security, smart watches, smart carbon monoxide detectors, smart cameras, smart lighting and more. This makes our lives simpler and easier, as most of the tasks are handled effectively by these devices. Wearable IoT technology has been used in tracking fitness and establishing overall health by utilising the gathered information.

Furthermore, IoT can be useful in automobiles by facilitating updates about traffic, vehicle conditions and remote control options. This ensures safety and provides a better experience for car users.

IoT in the Health Sector:

IoT-enhanced wearable devices allow real-time monitoring of patient’s health which includes tracking sugar levels and blood pressure, storing information about health conditions and more. The accumulated data can be used in providing personalised treatment plans and keeping health in check. Additionally, hospitals use IoT technology in surveying patient’s health continually, this helps in accessing the full record for a day.

IoT in industries:

Incorporating IoT Technology in industries helps in manufacturing products with improved effects and productivity. The information about the product helps in detecting possible defects and enhances quality. RFID and GPS track the product from the initial stage of manufacturing by storing all the data about the product from the early stage.

IoT Technology in Retail:

The retail sector uses IoT technology in many ways including checking the stock and gathering information about the stock conditions. RFID sensors inform about the stock condition like overstocking and stockouts.

Interactive displays use IoT technology. These interactive displays allow users to connect with the content thereby enhancing the user experience. This can be used in textile and many other retail shops. Smart mirrors are another application in the retail sector, as this allows customers to try diverse outfits, colour suggestions and more. Information that is collected from the display helps review the product, current discounts and other relevant details. Moreover, this can be done without leaving the trial room.

Smart City and IoT:

Smart City creation has been started in India in 2019 and there have been 100 smart cities till now. The major purpose of creating a smart City is to meet basic problems faced by the people. Additionally, IoT-enhanced smart cities will collect prime details and detect the issues faced by the individuals. This information is shared with the government and necessary steps are taken immediately. Moreover, it enhances transportation, water supply, security systems, surveying the vicinity and energy management.

Smart cities are covered with smart cameras, smart lighting and more. This helps to improve public safety and create a sense of trust among people.

Future and its benefits

The ability to connect necessary utilities to the Internet and automate repetitive tasks is the function that sticks with the Internet of Things. Incorporating IoT technology into the daily schedule will make life easier. Today the internet of things has been an emerging technology but it has a range of utilizations in all aspects. This makes IoT blend with human life in all areas hence creating a path for a smart world.
