Importance of mental health of a child

Life has come to a standstill due to the pandemic and people are trying all sorts of coping mechanism for the well being of their mental health but for the kids the whole story is different.

They are spending their development period inside their homes within the four walls now they can only dream of the blue sky and the unruffled wind, for them it is very unlikely to spend their whole day inside their rooms without playing their amusing games. Due to no physical activity the kids have turned lethargic and are getting frustrated on almost everything, their behaviour  pattern is changing drastically.

According to a study certain amount of environmental exposure is important for an individual to remain healthy and hence the kids might face some minimal health issues like moderate allergies and respiratory problems.

It is often observed that anxiety in children is difficult to spot thus people are not accustomed to give equal importance to a child’s mental health as compared to an adults. It is very important for parents to create a space where their child can freely talk about  what he/she is going through as none of us are sure about how long this pandemic is going to last.

Here are further activities that can make the lockdown easy for your child

  1. Art and craft – just hand them a paper and pen and wait for the magic to begin
  2. Home activities – as simple as making a den or drawing a rainbow can help your child to feel content
  3. Cooking – who doesn’t love cute little cupcakes ?
  4. Watch a drive in movie – get your scissors and paper ready and make your own cardboard car
  5. Treasure hunt

Mentioned above are some small tasks that one can enjoy while being indoors.
