Keeping up with its tradition, the All India Students Association (AISA)’s Delhi University wing had declared free of cost coaching for DU LLB aspirants for 2021-22 entrances in May. From 9th July, the revision classes for the same are scheduled by AISA volunteers and alumni. A detailed schedule is shared on their instagram page @aisa_du, along with a WhatsApp group link. The university, meanwhile, is yet to make a conclusive statement on entrance-based admission process, although the DU admissions Chairman, Rajeev Gupta, in a conversation with India.com has said that the entire admission process is likely to begin in the third week of July, with the entrance based courses opening registration first, and merit based courses following suit.
It is notable that DU LLB 2020 entrance examination saw a massive turnout of 17,662 applicants, out of which 2922 were given admission. DU LLB exam is considered to be moderately tough, and a huge coaching market runs on it. Meanwhile, AISA’s Instagram caption reads, “Reject the model of extortionist corporate coaching institutes! Free guidance for all!”
- In the pandemic, when inaccessibility of resources has become more pressing than ever, AISA’s move is worthy of applause. Student run free coaching benefit thousands of people who can’t afford to pay a hefty fees. In public universities like DU, which give academic opportunities to lacs of underprivileged students, an equitable move like this keeps the democracy alive in the education system.
