Silence prevails, sickening, painful; silence that screams of death.
The unheard cries, those halted calls for help;
Their innocence ripped apart, their hearts trampled and strained.
Little fingers that never got to touch the moon.
Eyes that dreamt of fairytales shut down so soon.
In the mayhem of bloodshed, he lies alone.
Life out of his soul, white as a ghost,
Wishing he was never alive to see the day,
When life was shattered to a thousand pieces,
Right in front of his unprepared eyes..
The sound of gunfire like a bullet in his heart,
Snatching away the solace of his days and peace of his nights.
Lost out on colour, its plain black and white.
Time stopped in its tracks, no motion, no movements.
The deadly footsteps and the deafening sounds,
Unmerciful eyes pulling the trigger.
You promised of El Dorado beyond the mountains.
Said there was home in the land of the sun.
You talked of happiness and sighed of love.
Are they gone now that I’m no longer there?
Where is the New Dawn that we all debated?
Despite cynicism ready to accept positiveness.
Despite the daily blots on civilization, dared to look ahead.
We had stars in our eyes, ready to bring about the rays of change.
But tricked by reality, we were fallen angels.
They blew out the fire, closed down our worlds.
Snatched away the light, letting in darkness,
Left us with a pain so sharp that it couldn’t be felt.
Now across the seas the sun has set.
Youth torn apart and a hundred beating hearts quieted.
The song bird has abandoned its song.
While they are engrossed in the clash of right and wrong.
Lost out on humanity, practioners of insanity.
What is the truth of life, or is there even one?
