DU SOL adds 16 off-beat Certificate Courses for Class 12th Pass-outs

The University of Delhi laid the foundation of its new Regional Centre (West) of School of Open Learning (SOL) in Keshavpuram on July 19. The new DU SOL introduced 16 new unconventional Certificate courses for Class XII pass out students.

The host institution, Campus of Open Learning (COL, University of Delhi), along with its existing industry training partner, RK Educational Trust, has added 16 more certificate courses to its portfolio, which will be offered both online and offline from the academic year 2021-22.

The Certificate Courses are:

  • Radio jockeying
  • Anchoring
  • TV journalism
  • Mass communication
  • Event management
  • Public relations
  • Digital marketing
  • Photography
  • Animation
  • Video editing
  • Filmmaking
  • Direction
  • Graphic design
  • Interior design
  • Fashion design
  • Merchandising
  • Fashion modelling
  • Fine arts
  • Financial markets
  • Office automation
  • E-accounting
  • Soft skills
  • Personality development
  • Stenography
  • Data sciences
  • Machine learning
  • Ethical hacking
  • Cybersecurity

Eligibility Criteria:

12th pass out candidates can apply for admission in these courses and also to students already enrolled in various other institutions. Students who complete these courses will be given a certificate from DU.

For more details about these Certificate Courses, prospective students can visit the official website col.du.ac.in. Admissions to these courses are on an open and direct basis by visiting the Campus of Open Learning situated in C-2, Keshav Puram.

“The students may consider these DU certifications, in comparison to other private courses, since they are pocket friendly and may also be considered by various PSU’s or government jobs for certificate being DU,” said Prof. US Pandey, Principal, School of Open Learning, Delhi University.

“The training shall be given by experienced professionals with industry-mapped topics with the help of training partners. Advantage of enrolling in these DU certifications is also open to students studying in other institutions or universities whether located in or outside Delhi,” he added.

Deepak Bansal, Director, RK Educational Group, associated with the Delhi University as a training partner said, “There has been a sharp rise of the students to simultaneously learn such curriculum ranging from 4 months to 10 months along with the degree programmes.”

“Such courses not only broaden their creative thinking but also help in building their CV for all possible work opportunities in form of internships or direct jobs. Some students also choose to go for higher studies after getting trained on the basics through these certificate courses,” he further added.

The inauguration of the new DU SOL West Delhi Centre was headed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. P.C. Joshi and Dr Vikas Gupta (Registrar) along with Prof. Balram Pani (Director, COL) and Prof. US Pandey (Principal, SOL) among other dignitaries.

The SOL also has an existing Regional Centre in Moti Bagh (South Campus) which also shares the administrative and academic load of the main SOL (North Campus).
