ICCINTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE

The internal complaints committee (ICC)  is a body that every organization should consider.

ICC in any organization, contain all the complaints related to sexual harassment at the workplace,  inquire into and make directions to the employers, required for the inquiry.

This body constituted in 2013 for the protection and betterment of women work with the organization.

ICC IN DELHI UNIVERSITYICC

Delhi university as an organization contain ICC For the relaxation of women, of any age, whether employed or not, can fill the complaint against employees.

It is necessary to mobilize the students about a healthy working environment and different aspects of sexual harassment because the more they feel safe, more they focus on work.

There was the news from Bharti college, an official complaint filed with the college’s ICC, claiming that a student had been sexually harassed by a teacher.

It seems like an emboldened step, to consider ICC as a part of this University for women empowerment, includes its faculty, departments, centers and halls etc.

All colleges of Delhi University constitute their own  ICC by the provision.

In November 2017, Miranda house became the first college in DU to have successfully elected ICC student representative.

ELECTIONS FOR ICC MEMBERSICC

According to the UGC grant commission, there should be 3  student members,  with at least one male and one female, this election process, held in 2 tiers.

The first tier held on a departmental level  and 2nd tier held on the university level.

In a first-tier election, class representative(CR)  elected for each academic programme

The following shall be the eligibility criteria for being elected as CR

  • He/ she should pursue a regular degree course from the University
  • Minimum 75% attendance in the previous semester
  • No backlog of papers
  • Must have secured at least 55% in the previous or latest semester
  • Not subject to any disciplinary actions in the past and should not have any criminal record.

at last, The 2nd tier of the election held between 10 candidates for 3 posts of ICC membership. with one female candidate

  • PHYSICAL CONTACT AND ADVANCES
  • REQUEST FOR SEXUAL FAVOUR
  • SHOWING PORNOGRAPHY
  • UNWELCOME PHYSICAL, VERBAL OR NON VERBAL CONDUCT.

HOW SERIOUS ARE DELHI COLLEGES FOR WOMEN SAFETY

I  believe that crucial steps for preventing sexual harassment is not much effective because most of the time we saw students rallies asking for women safety.

yes there are provisions for ICC but crime against women are not decline because of bad implementation of policies.

women feel terror to complain against senior employees because they feel ,they might get loose their jobs.

some are conscious about other opinions, they have a fear to judge. Because of such opinions, they give rise to such crimes.
