Does beauty lie in the eyes of the beholder ?

“Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.”Is it true ? Let’s first look into what beauty actually means .

Being beautiful is often defined as being or looking someone who is attractive and pleasing to the viewer’s eyes. This definition of beauty leads us to spend thousands of money on makeup, spas, salons, beauty products and obviously some funky hairstyle tools.

But the most important question that arises here is that, DO WE HAVE TO LOOK BEAUTIFUL TO BE PLEASING TO OTHER’S EYES? WHAT ABOUT TO BEING BEAUTIFUL FOR ONLY ONESELF AND NOT OTHERS?

We often ignore the latter part of the question. It happens because we human beings have decided certain criterias of how a person should look. So, if a person is tall, fair in complexion, has an impeccable skin, is thin and leen, only then we would call that person to be beautiful. Others are all ugly like Cindrella’s step sisters and step mother. But, how many of us really have all the above listed traits? Are all of us fair and impeccable ? Is it true that none of us has signs of puberty hit on our faces in the form of acne ?

This idea of flawless beauty is the real dragon behind all the beauty related insecurities that we have. How can one be completely flawless ? And if being flawless is the only criterion that we consider for lives. Then why do we worship Goddess Kali because she is not fair and Lord Ganesha because he is not thin and muscular? If we do not consider these standards for God, then why for the creation of God ?

The Real Beauty

So, it is not about how we look and if we are fair or dark. It is only about how we treat others when they ask for help. It is only about how humble we are while we talk with our watchmen and maids. It is only about what good we do for others and not just for oneself.

Because, if you are dark, you are beautiful. Are you fair? Still you are beautiful. If you are fat, you are beautiful.Even if you are thin, you are beautiful. Doesn’t matter if you have acne, you are still beautiful. If you have wrinkles, you are beautiful. If you have scars, you are beautiful. NO MATTER WHAT, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.
