Amid rising protests and opposition coming regarding the university ‘s proposition to still continue with open book examinations (OBE) , a group of over more than 40 students from different colleges across the university have written to the Chief Justice of Delhi high court , urging him to address the matter at hand . For the last few days since the announcement of the OBE format being adopted for the conduction of semester-end exams have surfaced, several students , teachers as well as unions have vigorously protested against what is being called a “discriminatory” move on the part of the administration.
In their letter addressed to the Chief Justice DN Patel, 44 students explained how many of them were unable to benefit from online classes and online exams of any form was “blatantly unfair and demanding for students as well as how various universities throughout country were unable to conduct online examinations” stating that even DU is ill equipped to carry out this mammoth task with such a diverse student community.
Further it also addresses how every student has different psychological and logistical issues to deal with at home while also highlighting the plight of students from Kashmir who do not have proper connectivity or resources at hand .“Online examinations will lead to great discomfort for Kashmiri students and they may fail without being given a fair chance” ,it concluded .Letter petition has been submitted at the residence of Chief Justice and students expectantly wait for quick measures for further relief .
