OBC students in DU harassed by colleges, says Delhi Minorities Commission

OBC students harassed by Delhi university colleges, says Delhi Minorities commission

OBC students not having post-31 March 2018 certificates are made to sign undertakings that they will submit a post-31 March 2018 OBC certificate within 15 days, failing which their admissions will be cancelled. Delhi Minorities commission has taken a note of this invalid demand by some of the colleges of DU that they need an updated OBC certificate post 31st March 2018.

DMC Chairman Dr. Zafarul-Islam Khan has written to the Registrar of Delhi University informing him that the department issuing OBC certificates says that there is no expiry date for these certificates and that no orders have been issued that OBC students should submit post-31 March OBC certificates. Hence such demand by colleges is illegal.
DMC Chairman has further said in his letter that this is an urgent matter since students failing to submit fresh OBC certificates in time will lose their seats, taking into consideration that issuance of an OBC certificate is a time-consuming matter which usually consumes a time period of 5-7 days.

Some students have termed it as a harassment. They have pleaded to DMC for immediate action.
