DU to conduct entrance tests for B.Com and B.Com(H) from next academic session

Delhi University is planning to introduce entrance tests for admissions to B.Com courses starting 2018.  Entrance exam will likely be introduced first for BCom, BCom (hons) and Economics (hons).

At present, DU conducts entrance tests for its post-graduation and professional courses. However, admissions to undergraduate courses are done on the basis of Class 12 marks.

If DU B.Com Entrance Exam is held, then almost one-third of students getting admission in the University of Delhi will come under its radar. National level exam conducting bodies will be roped in to assist with the actual exam conducting process.

Last year, in December, Dr Manoj Khanna, convenor of Admission Committee of DU said that “entrance will start for the commerce admission. But we are exploring other possibilities in other subjects”.

Khanna had said that they were also looking at a tie-up with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that conducts all India-level exams, in this regard.

News agency PTI reported that DU is also asserting its potential like how to strengthen the infrastructure for aniline admissions and preparations of entrance tests, with emphasis on evolving a “student-friendly” admission system.

Cheers to the academic team of DU for getting this done wef 2018-19 session. A good decision though very late.
